A Short Bed Time Story

I am no means a professional writer, but I thought it might be nice to write a short story geared towards children giving a brief bible lesson written in a way that younger children could understand and hopefully be interesting enough to ignite their interest in learning more about the bible. While I tried to keep the substance of the story biblically accurate I did take some literary license to make it easily understandable for a younger audience.

The Rainbow

I am sure you have seen a rainbow in the sky after a rain storm, but have you ever wondered why it is there?  Well I can tell you but first we must go back a long time ago when the earth was younger. People had grown wicked and stop listening to God. They did things that hurt God and He started to regret that He had made people because they had become wicked all of the time and only had evil in their hearts. So, God decided to rid the earth of people, but Noah found favor in God’s eyes because he was righteous and walked faithfully with God and He decided to spare Noah and his family.

God told Noah to build an ark which is just a big boat and to gather two of every kind of animal. Which Noah did following all of God’s instruction. He then loaded all of the animals and his family on the ark and God made it rain for forty days and nights flooding the whole earth. Out of all the people and animals that lived on the ground or flew in the air only the passengers in Noah’s ark were left alive.

After a year of being in the ark God told Noah to bring his family and all of their passengers out of the ark. After everyone and everything was off the ark Noah built an altar and gave offerings to God. God then blessed Noah and his family telling them to be fruitful and increase in numbers and fill the earth.  God then promised to never destroy the earth or man by floods and as sign of that covenant a rainbow would appear in the clouds as an everlasting reminder.

8Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: 9 “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.” Genesis 9:8-17

A Message for Nine- Eleven

This year as   September   the eleventh approaches and we reflect on that day it is a good time to remember   two things   one that while we may never know why it happened, God does   and secondly and most importantly God was there with each and every one of us that day rather we were setting at home watching on   the television or were one of the victims He was there offering you comfort and gently leading his followers home, while trying for one last time to call those who refused to believe   and rather they believed or not, God loved them and you as he always does.   You may ask why did God do this? Simple answer He didn’t do this these acts were done by men who were deceived by Satan into thinking they were following God’s will. They were deceived by a false promise of paradise for them and their families by becoming martyrs. Next you are going to ask why did God allow this? I don’t know but I trust His reasoning.   Corinthians...

Read The Bible

18 Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. 19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 20 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates: Deuteronomy 11:18-20 As we start another year, I can’t help but to ponder about all the changes that have occurred over my life. As I think back I began reminiscing about my now grown kids nothing earth changing just how things have changed since my oldest was born. I thought about the internet and cable tv both of which has changed life for the better and worse. Better because it has made the world a smaller place I am able to talk to people all over the world and the information useful information that is on the internet, before the internet if you wanted to ...

God Can use Anyone Even You!

You may wonder am I good enough for God to use me? The answer is yes God likes to use imperfect people to accomplish his task. It shows that no matter who He uses as long as He is the guiding force behind the task it will go exactly how it was supposed to. It is also a good reminder there is no obstacle that we can over come as long as we trust in the Lord   Matthew 26:30 -35 30  And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. 31  Then Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away because of me this night. For it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ 32  But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee.” 33  Peter answered him, “Though they all fall away because of you, I will never fall...
